How to Start an Esports Club or Community

To start an esports club or community, pick one game or audience to focus on, give it a home (a community page plus a Discord server), run a regular event on the same day each week, and give your most active members jobs. On Nameless Arena a community space is free, with no limit on members or events, and every event you host is listed on it.

Pick a focus

Communities grow around something specific: a game (Rocket League 2v2s), a place (a city, a school, a region), or a group (a university club, a workplace league). Pick one to start. You can add more games once people show up every week.

Give it a home

Create a community on Nameless Arena. It is free and gives you a page with your logo, banner, colors, tagline, social links and an announcement, plus sections for your featured event, live matches, schedule, competitions and sponsors that you can reorder or hide.

Link your Discord server from the page. The Arena can post to a channel when registration or check-in opens, when rounds start and when a champion is crowned.

Create a community

Run something every week

Consistency beats size. A small tournament every Thursday night builds a habit; one big event a year does not. Use the wizard's run it again option to copy last week's settings and rules with new dates.

Mix formats: a weekly bracket, a monthly league or ladder, and the occasional special event with a prize or a guest.

Share the work

Give active members roles: admins and managers to run events, coaches for teams, staff to help on match day. People stay where they have a job. Nameless communities have owner, admin, manager, coach, staff and member roles.

Grow it

Once you have a steady weekly turnout:

  • Post results after every event; recaps bring people back
  • Partner with other communities for joint events
  • Approach local businesses or game stores as sponsors; sponsors can be shown on your events
  • Stream your finals (see our Broadcast Studio guide)
  • Large organizations can ask about a white label site on their own domain

Frequently asked questions

Does it cost anything to start a community on Nameless Arena?
No. Community spaces are free, with no limits on members or events.
Do I need a Discord server?
It helps. Most players talk on Discord, and the Arena can post registration, check-in, round and result updates to your channel.
How do I get my first members?
Run a free event and invite people from the communities you already play in. Ask everyone who plays to join your community page and Discord, and run the next event on the same day the following week.
Can my community have its own website?
Every community gets its own page on Nameless Arena. Organizations that want their own domain and branding can ask about a white label setup.
